Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE)
ECFE is a program for parents and their children during the years from birth up to kindergarten. The program mission is to provide quality learning opportunities and resources to all young families in our school district. ECFE is a fun, informal place to meet, learn and play with other parents and young children. ECFE is the only universal access early childhood and family education program in the state.

Interesting Facts

  • The three components of a weekly ECFE class are parent-child interaction, parent education and children’s education. This three component models helps strengthen the parent and child relationship, provide parents with research based information about parenting, and contributes to the readiness of children for school.
  • About 25% of eligible families attend some type of ECFE programming each year.
  • A once a week ECFE class has an impact that lasts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week as a result of parents being able to be the best parents possible for their children.
  • ECFE extends a special invitation to attend classes to every district family with a newborn. County birth records inform of us of new births and families receive a welcome letter that includes information about upcoming infant classes and baby drop-in times.
  • ECFE offers a 4 week summer program for families with children from birth to 2 years old.
